IAITAM plays a prominent role in determining IT Asset Management best practices, but it is the Membership that drives best practices. As the field matures, experts and leaders emerge who can influence improvement as business demands increase. IAITAM Fellow is the highest level of personal professional recognition offered by IAITAM, and is awarded on a limited basis for members who are pre-eminent in the field of IT Asset Management. These Individuals have contributed to the ideals of IAITAM and IT Asset Management practices. Join Today  


The current IAITAM Fellows met before the IAITAM 2009 Annual Conference & Exhibition and have been tasked with several initiatives that will increase the IAITAM knowledge bank and assist in moving new and improved courseware and services out to the ITAM industry throughout 2010.  The incoming Fellows will be apprised of the projects before year’s end.

IAITAM would like to announce the addition of 2 highly qualified individuals to its Fellowship ranks for 2009:

Paul “Doc” Burnham, Currently of Textron, Inc. and Agnitio Advisors
Paul ‘Doc’ Burnham (PBurnham@Textron.com) is the Enterprise Software Asset Management Lead at Textron. He has over 20 years of IT experience with an extensive background in IT Asset Management (ITAM), Software Asset Management (SAM), software compliance, contract and vendor management.
Doc is recognized for his expertise in the mechanics of SAM and the implementation of SAM.  His activities within the SAM ecosystem have included: development work on ISO 19770-2 & -3, developing and presenting ITAM and SAM related training, writing white papers and working jointly with other SAM practitioners, tool vendors and software publishers to further the overall knowledge and abilities related to SAM.
Doc holds a MBA, MS degree in Computer Information Systems, and is Certified Microsoft Professional in SAM.  

Howard Hasting, Currently of CA, Inc. and Chairman of the Board of Tagvault.org
Howard Hastings’ IT career spans over three decades.  He currently serves as ITAM Evangelist at CA, where he leverages extensive IT Service Management (ITSM) experience as a practitioner, corporate manager, software executive and entrepreneur to advance CA’s position in the marketplace and influence internal product direction.
Howard joined CA when it acquired DecisionRight in 2007, where he was a Co-founder and VP of Solutions.  In this role, he developed software recognition and augmented content for software inventory/asset management tool publishers and delivered software license compliance services to IT organizations.  At DecisionRight, Howard also played a role in drafting early versions of the ISO 19770-2 (“Software Data Tag”) and ISO 19770-3 (“Entitlement”) standards.
A frequent speaker and writer for trade publications, as well as an expert witness for software copyright infringement and counterfeiting litigation, Howard has also performed multiple updates of the Certified Software Manager (CSM) curriculum, the only industry sanctioned education covering US and Canadian copyright law and the external audit process as it pertains to computer software for the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA).

An IAITAM Fellow is a person who is expected to provide strategic direction and help define best practice standards for the industry and members of IAITAM. Members are invited to become one of the IAITAM Fellows when they have distinguished themselves on the world stage in the IT Asset Management arena. IAITAM Fellowship is a lifetime award provided that membership in IAITAM is continued. Fellowship signifies that the individual has demonstrated substantial achievement in the field of IT Asset Management.

The number of IAITAM Fellows is strictly limited to no more than five new IAITAM Fellows per year, and the total number of Fellows must not exceed 10% of the total membership at the time of induction.

Nominees to become an IAITAM Fellow must be submitted to IAITAM by an IAITAM member for consideration. Fax the completed nomination form to IAITAM at +1.330.628.3289. The nomination period opens July 1, 2010.

Requirements:

To be considered for Fellowship a member must:

  • Be an active IAITAM member
  • Have made significant contribution to the field of IT Asset Management in the form of:
    • Books
    • White papers
    • Articles
    • Invited to speak at major conferences and/or seminars
    • Special IAITAM approved projects
  • Be prepared to contribute towards best practice and industry standards moving forward
  • Have demonstrated substantial achievement in the profession over a period of at least five years
  • Be a person of integrity who has a proven record of expertise, experience and success in helping large companies achieve results in managing their assets
  • Be respected in the field of asset management
  • Play an active participation in both the advancement of the industry and the Association
  • Be an advocate of IAITAM


Fellowship Nomination Process:    (You must log in as and IAITAM Member in order to download the nomination form.)

IAITAM will issue a Fellowship solicitation notice via email to all active IAITAM Members. The nomination period opens July 1, 2010. Nominations will be accepted over a 2 week period from the email being sent.

IAITAM will send out Fellowship packets to nominated Members who will have 2 weeks to complete the packet and return it to IAITAM.

Current IAITAM Fellows will select up to 5 additional Fellows from Member submissions. IAITAM will send out congratulatory notices to each fellow and a special invitation to the Annual Conference.  New Fellows will be inducted at the Annual Conference.
